Function & Applications

This module can be used as a square wave signal generator during prototyping, producing stable square wave signals for experimental development. Typical applications include:

Driving stepper motors
Providing adjustable pulse signals for microcontroller projects

Core Configuration

Equipped with an NE555 timer chip, the board supports four selectable frequency ranges:

1Hz – 50Hz (L jumper)
50Hz – 1kHz
1kHz – 10kHz
10kHz – 200kHz (H jumper)

Frequency is selected via onboard jumpers, with two trim-pots available for fine adjustment of both output frequency and duty cycle.

Input Voltage: 5V – 15V DC
Current Draw: approx. 15mA at 5V, approx. 35mA at 12V
Output Amplitude: 4.2Vpp – 11.4Vpp (depending on supply voltage)

Indicator Features

An onboard LED indicator provides visual feedback:

Illuminates during low-level output
Flashes in sync with the output frequency
At higher frequencies, appears solid or gradually dimmed (depending on duty cycle)

Period Formula: T = 0.7 × (RA + 2RB) × C
RA, RB: adjustable from 0 – 10K
Capacitor configurations:
- Low profile: C = 0.001µF
- IF stalls: C = 0.1µF
- High-frequency file: C = 1µF
- HF stalls: C = 100µF
